Isn’t it funny how most of the time we know and acknowledge the problem ailing us, yet do nothing to fix it? There are a number of problems that set the stage for such instances where we are talkers instead of doers, but for now, let’s focus on the climate crisis.
Go ahead and ask someone, Do you believe in climate change? Most likely, they will answer in the affirmative. Most of us know the problem, but how many of us are doing anything about it? How many can take personal responsibility for the role they have played in global warming?
The 8 Billion Trees movement to heal the planet
The climate crisis we collectively face inspired the rise of the 8 Billion Trees, an American NGO on a tree-planting mission to rebuild habitats and offset carbon.
The NGO’s website explains, “8 Billion Trees carries out large-scale tree planting and tree conservation operations to fuel positive environmental change and defend habitats for animals, while also caring for displaced and hurt animals by utilizing wildlife sanctuaries and veterinary clinics focused on devastated and deforested areas.”
The carbon and ecological footprint calculator
Carbon Dioxide plays a role in bolstering global warming. Here’s how: It absorbs and then re-emits, infrared radiation. This makes the planet warmer.
Taking personal responsibility
We’re living in a critical time of global warming issues, and we humans are guilty and responsible for this. We are increasingly influencing the climate and earth’s temperature by burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests, and farming livestock. But more than that, do you know that everything you do and consume on a daily can add up to your personal carbon and ecological footprint, and all that together is destroying planet earth?
As an NGO that specializes and deeply cares about climate change and influences people to be more aware of their impacts on the planet, 8 Billion Trees has created a Carbon Pollutant Calculator – a FREE tool for anyone to use. The calculator allows us to find our personal Carbon & Ecological Footprint and have an understanding of crucial steps we need to take in order to in lower our carbon emissions. It comes down to taking responsibility for our individual footprint that ultimately leads to our collective impact on the planet.

There is no Planet B. We must save this one.
