In my last article about the mysterious land of Atlantis, I gave geoarcheological evidence supporting my theory that it existed in the Sahara desert region. The main evidence here was the existence of the Richat Structure or the so-called Eye of Africa which closely aligns with Plato’s recounting of this land.
Today, I will go into greater detail about the main issue causing confusion about Atlantis – that it was a real place with real people that once existed on a map.
Errors of interpretation
Many European scholars insist that Atlantis could not have been real. They give various reasons for this, the main one being the fact that Plato had given the story in a dialogue. Apparently to many, this passes as ironclad proof of Atlantis’ fictional nature.
The myth of Atlantis was introduced to Europe by Solon, Strobo and later Plato as an entirely foreign story. A story that had happened 9,000 years prior, as told to the Greeks by Egyptian priests in Avaris.
In Athens, Atlantis takes on a life of its own as the ultimate utopia from way back. Unable to prove the veracity of the story, European scholars opted to trash the whole concept as fictitious. The real reason that Europeans have been failing in finding Atlantis is because they have been looking in all the wrong places.
The number 9
Plato tells us that Atlantis was founded by 10 kings comprising of a set of 5 twins. In its contemporary history, the vast territory was ruled by a council of 9 kings, representing every territory of the land.
Among the Bantus, the number 9 and 10 have a special place. It is weaved within the fabric of many tribes within the Bantu linguistic class. For example, the Kikuyu tribe is organized into 9 tribes plus 1 more (unnamed) to make it 10. The Mijikenda is another Bantu sub-group that reveres the number 10 camouflaged as 9.
The Greeks heard about Atlantis from Egypt, but they have been searching for the lost city in Europe. This is just another incident of Europeans ignoring African stories even when they are staring at them in the face.
Along with many facilities found within the walls of Atlantis, Plato recounts, were tracks used for training. This is just material evidence that the people of Atlantis were athletically inclined. It is also mentioned that the Atlantians were very athletic people in general.
Many years down the line, the story of Atlantis has largely been lost in Africa. However, the vestiges of what Plato described in Critias may still be seen. For example, the Maasai of Kenya – not Bantus, but very closely related, have always been known to be superiorly athletic.
The Burundian high-jumpers are another group which still lives according to the old Way. In many different studies, they amazed researchers with their virtually inborn jumping skills. And while alone this factor does not constitute proof, along with others, it tells an incredible story of time.
The main problem with Africa today, one single problem that absolutely sets us back ages, is the fact that we are not telling our own stories. If we did, we’d be very familiar with circular architecture and it’s prominence in African historiography.
Plato mentions that the city of Atlantis was built in a circular formation. Once you look at the pictures, you have got to recognize the fact that the circular layout really stood out. However, it was not just the city that was round.
The disparate architectural styles found among African share one major similarity – the incorporation of the divine circle in designs. Circular buildings have been found all over the African continent, from the King’s Palace in Nyanza, Rwanda, to the Senegambia stone circles.
Other African tribes that incorporate circular house construction include the Shona, Zulu, Aksum, Amazigh, Sukur, and Congo. While some of these are clearly not Bantus, it goes to show you that circular construction was very widespread in the ancient world in Africa.
Scattered by climate change
Atlantis is said to have been destroyed in one night of cataclysmic destruction, buried under the sea, never to rise again. This unique fate stands out from many other great civilizations of the ancient world.
Incidentally, the number one cause of the Bantu migration is said to have been fleeing adverse climate change in their homeland. Whether this change was gradual over centuries or if it happened in one day may not be easy to decipher.
Atlantis is described as having many massive aqueducts to distribute water for irrigation further away from the waterways. This allowed them to support their agricultural way of life. When the water dried up, these once mighty people were scattered far and wide.
Atlantis is Green Sahara
At the end of the day, however, proof of the Bantus being the original people of Atlantis is nearly impossible to find. The only evidence supporting this theory includes;
- The Sahara stated to dry up around 6,000 years BC, which is about the same time given for the sinking of Atlantis. This supports the theory that Green Sahara was Atlantis.
- The Bantus are said to have originated from an “unknown” location to the North. The Sahara desert covers the entire northern portions of Africa.
In the end, Atlantis is not the story of one single group of people. In fact, it is highly unlikely that the Bantus were the only dwellers of Green Sahara. A fair portion of the population of Atlantis would have favored the northern and eastern exit points from North Africa. We just need to find who these people are.
